Dog is Dead Preview

The eagerly awaited return of Dog is Dead is upon us. At long last the world will be graced with more of the catchy, hearty songs that made their debut album All Our Favourite Stories such a hit among lovers of indie pop. They may not gather the same level of attention compared to the likes of Little Comets and Tribes but this Nottingham based band sure know their way around a song. Undoubtedly the best song off of their debut and fan favourite, ‘Glockenspiel Song’ is nigh on impossible to not sing along to and it’s no surprise that the famous lyrics “We are a mess, we are failures, and we love it” are sung with such panache by everyone in attendance at their exceptionally entertaining live performances. To not have released anything since 2012 is unusual considering how well received their debut was but that will hopefully mean a more refined and consistent approach to their music. The title track of their latest EP, Fast Food, shows much of the old style still which is no surprise and certainly not unwelcome as they prepare to release their second album. There’s surely a lot more to come from Dog is Dead, and if you want to see them in action for yourselves, they will be performing at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar on Friday 6th November for just £11.50.
