The badgeronline website is not only a source of news, reviews and comment but has recently helped put long-lost family members back in touch. A Badger editor, who wishes to remain anonymous, was contacted through the website last week by somebody asking for information about their family history. After a confused reply from the editor, it arose that the person enquiring was in fact the mother of a 13 year-old boy – a half-brother that they did not know existed. “It’s a bit of a shock,” they comment, “but it shows that the Badger is creating its own stories.”

It turns out that, with the help of a google search, the family members stumbled across the Badger website, through which they filled in the contact form to reach the editor directly. The Badger website was launched at the beginning of the current academic year and as this story shows, as well as providing an open forum for feedback and comment on stories, it also has some rather unexpected uses!
