This album is another excellent example of Fabric’s ability to turn out dynamic albums with some of the best music talent around. On this latest addition to the Fabric selection, Brooklyn-based Metro Area (Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani) incorporate elements of disco (a genre which is perhaps over-looked because of the Bee Gees, though actually has a lot more depth than is often assumed) with cool electro and 80’s RnB.

Perhaps I have a particular fondness for 70’s funk and soul which gives me an added interest in this particular Fabric mix, but it is undeniable that one of the best things about this album is its ability to take these funky nuggets of disco and add a new dimension through cool electro. This combination makes for something which had me dancing around the room – to my own surprise as well as anyone that saw me.

The love of electro and 80’s RnB which Geist and Jesrani both share has resulted in what is a distinctively fresh musical collaboration. To catch this pair live, see them at Fabric in London on December 6th. This Fabric43: Metro Area mix will be available in the shops from 11th November.
