‘Comparisons’ is a song that we wrote based around the insecurities of not knowing who or where you want to be in life. When discussing the topic of ‘identity and image’ we felt uneasy with the question ‘where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?’ Because we don’t think anyone really knows the answer. Things change, you change, and not every aspect of life can be planned – something the pandemic showed us all.

These lyrics are a reaction to being unsure of the direction you want to take in life and finding peace in just being yourself. You don’t need to aspire to be someone you’re not or try to change your personality or characteristics. Just be unique because having a personal identity is so important.

Comparisons

Comparisons are the threat of joy,

And every image of perfection is a part of that void,

So, be the person who you’re supposed to be,

Cause’ what’s the point living in a made-up reality?

What’s direction if you have no dream?

What’s possibility when you have no vision?

What’s a man these days I hear you cry?

Who am I supposed to be?

Everybody just wants to find a place,

Where individuality becomes collectivism,

Be yourself, cause’ everybody else is already taken.

Nobody can tell you who to be,

Anyone that tries is simply selling you a fantasy,

We’re all living in this life together,

But we all can do it in our own way.

What’s direction if you have no dream?

What’s possibility when you have no vision?

What’s a man these days I hear you cry?

Don’t compare yourself to somebody else,

I don’t ‘wanna be a doppelganger of anybody else,

Because my dad told me son it’s ok,

Do what you love and what makes you happy.

Who am I supposed to be?

Everybody just wants to find a place,

Where individuality becomes collectivism,

Be yourself, cause’ everybody else is already taken.
