Freshers’ week 2021 has finally arrived and it’s jam packed with a variety of events to meet other Sussex students!

The main programme for Fresher’s week this year starts on the 18th September 2021 and ends on the 26th September 2021. Here’s a chronological breakdown of what’s on offer, where you can save some money, and the best events to attend.

THE GOLDEN TICKET – The Official Freshers Week Bundle Ticket 

The Golden Ticket includes entry into Sussex Festival, Big Night Out, Pier Party and Boundary Festival. These are some of the biggest events happening during Freshers week, but there are a limited number of tickets available, so get in there quick. 

To buy the bundle, visit the SU Website or the Welcome Hub, which will be situated on Library Square throughout Freshers week.

SUSSEX FESTIVAL

Sunday 19th, on campus, 7pm – 1am.

This is the headline event of Freshers week. Based on campus, the ‘LAND BEFORE TIME’ festival will feature three stages where the best bands and DJs from Brighton and beyond will play for one night only.

KARAOKE NIGHT

Sunday 19th & 26th, Northfield Bar, 7pm.

Show off your vocal ability at Northfield Bar and have a laugh with your flatmates over a night of cringe-worthy karaoke, discounted bottles of prosecco and other prizes for you and your friends.

BRIGHTON WALKING TOURS

Sunday 19th & Tuesday 21st, meet at Falmer Quad, 11am – 4pm.

Brighton walking tours are the perfect way to explore your new city whilst meeting other freshers and having the chance to ask other Sussex students about the best spots in Brighton, and tickets are only £4.50! 

FRESHERS FAIR

Monday 20th, Library Square, 11am – 5pm. 

Hosted at the centre of campus in Library Square, this is where you can find out about the many clubs, societies, and services at Sussex, as well as hearing about Brighton restaurants, clubs, and shops (and importantly bag endless freebies).

And have any questions during the week? Visit the Welcome Hub in Library Square which will be open throughout Freshers’. 

BIG NIGHT OUT 

Monday 20th, various bars and clubs, 9pm onwards. 

One wristband, six venues and the ultimate Freshers crawl. Prepare for the biggest exploration of Brighton’s best bars and clubs, with unbeatable drink deals.

CAMPAIGNS FAIR: ACTIVISTS ASSEMBLE!

Tuesday 21st, Falmer House Common Room, 12pm – 4pm.

Interested in activism and want to join students who are shaking things up? Visit the alternative freshers fair in Falmer House Common Room to learn about all the campaigns you can get involved in and find out how you can create change!

BIG NIGHT IN

Tuesday 21st, on campus, 3pm onwards. 

From 3pm onwards, a variety of events will be hosted across campus for a chilled night of entertainment. From watch parties, arts & crafts in the ACCA, to Gaming Retro-bution down in Falmer Bar, there’s something for everyone. To end the night, there will be a film screening in the ACCA theatre.

BRIGHTON FOOD TOURS

Wednesday 22nd & Friday 24th, meet at Falmer Quad

For all the foodies out there, there is a special tour of all of the best eating spots in Brighton taking place on Friday 24th. Don’t worry, there will be tasters.

Interested in sustainability and saving money? On Wednesday 22nd at 12pm, you can join a tour of Brighton’s best sustainable consumption hot spots, from pay-as-you-feel food spots to zero-plastic supermarkets. The perfect trip for any eco-conscious student.

PIER PARTY

Thursday 23rd, Brighton Palace Pier, 6pm – 11pm. 

Sussex students take over Brighton’s iconic Palace Pier for one night only. For just £17 expect unlimited rides, free arcade games and discounted treats (plus, join over 3000 freshers as Sussex takes over the entire seafront with free entry for pier partygoers to the biggest clubs in Brighton).

BOUNDARY FESTIVAL

Saturday 25th, Stanmer Park 

Brighton’s biggest electronic festival returns to Stanmer Park for its fifth year, and with an impressive line-up of house and bass – this year is going to be bigger than ever. Appearing on the main stage are huge names like Andy C, Wilkinson, My Nu Leng and Sub Focus. So, grab your tickets, call over your new flatmates, and we’ll see you on the dancefloor for the Freshers week finale.

VIRTUAL EVENTS

From virtual cooking lessons to gaming tournaments, throughout the week we will have a huge selection of events for you to meet other Sussex students, all from the comfort of your own home.
