They say your university years are meant to be the best years of your life. You have so many opportunities at your disposal and only you can decide what to do with it all. So why not take this opportunity to pursue something you’ve always wanted to do. For some that may be experimenting in other genres of music with other people or starting a band.
Sussex Live Music Society (SLIM) was launched to do just that. Aiming to create a warm community of musicians and music lovers hopefully resulting in forming bands and life-long friendships.
Social Media rep Oliver Dhakal explains the society’s intentions, “We aim to host open mics, get local bands to perform, and hopefully by the end of the year, do our first ever ‘battle of the bands’ with the bands we have created through this society.”
They encourage anyone to get involved whether they’re beginners or experts everyone should be able to experience making music together.
Whilst collaborating on events with other music societies on campus, like the Big Band. They host open mic nights with the first one at Northfield Bar on Tuesday 12th February, 7PM.
