The iPad is the latest and seemingly unnecessary fad to be sweeping campus.

Firstly, I don’t understand why people insist on using them to take lecture notes. It takes longer than five minutes to write a sentence, unless of course you want to invest in a £79.95 keyboard cover (talk about daylight robbery!).

IPad’s have not just become a student phenomenon; they are now apparently a vital advertising tool. The latest TV advert shows an iPad advertising the very same device on its own screen. I cannot be the only one to view this latest marketing technique as ludicrous?

I have also seen them used is at a wedding, where a guest was using it to take photos of the happy couple. Honestly, please refrain from holding up a huge metallic slab to record these beautiful moments. Go and buy a camera like any other normal human being!

Similarly, reading books on them is completely mind-boggling. Call me old-fashioned, but what is wrong with a nice paper book? Pulling out that monstrosity on the train to read ‘Alice in Wonderland’ is going to get you mugged.
