We all know that one of the best things about Christmas is consuming colossal amounts of food and drink. Before returning home for the holidays, why not rally up your housemates, get dressed up and go out for an ultra-festive Christmas meal at ‘Feast’, a new venue with a seasonal twist, located next to the Royal Pavilion Ice Rink.
“Feast is open to all, whether you are skating, eating or just popping by for a drink”, and with a wide selection of gastronomical delights, from cheese fondue to suckling pig, there really is something to suit all tastebuds on the menu. I went along to try out some of the tasty treats on offer.
‘Feast’ offer a selection of extravagant platters, hosting a mouth-watering array of salami, pastrami and beetroot cured salmon. These are perfect for sharing with friends, and of course splitting the cost is always a great way to ease the blow on the bank account (we are all students after all). ‘Feast’ also have a huge selection of colourful veggie options on the menu, including their ‘pumpkin risotto served with girolles and parmesan crisps’. And if you’re a seafood lover, try Feast’s ‘Moules Mariniere with green curry paste and ginger served with chunky bread’, or splash out on some Oban, family farmed oysters, drizzled with delicious lemon juice and tabasco. If, like me, you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend the chocolate fondant served with boozy griotte cherry syrup (seriously delicious, trust me). And you could always finish off by treating yourself to some liquid nitrogen meringue, which you can watch being made before your very eyes!
There is no obligation to skate when visiting ‘feast’, so if you don’t fancy making a fool of yourself on the ice rink you can cosy up in one of the armchairs and soak up the festive atmosphere. And heck, why not warm up with a spiced mulled wine while you’re about it. ‘Feast’ is open from 10am, and with hot pastries and full English breakfasts on offer, you can grab something off the breakfast menu with your coursemates before heading onto campus. ‘Feast’ is the place to go if you want lavish, innovative food for an affordable price and is a great way to kick-start the Christmas season.
