On 15 March at around 6pm, some of the results for the 2024-25 Students’ Union Leadership Elections were announced. The elected full-time officers for next year are Naina Bahl (Wellbeing Officer), Jada Orlebar-Earle (Diversity, Access and Participation Officer), and Ardeshir Alexander-Sefre (Sports, Societies and Events Officer).
The results for Education and Employability Officer, International Students’ Officer, and Student Living and Sustainability Officer have been delayed due to a complaint received in the hour between voting closed and the announcements were made. The complaint will be investigated over the weekend, with the election results expected next week.
Also elected in part-time officer roles are Chloe Redman (Womens’ Officer) and Lyds Knowles and Yanna Erikson (Disabled Students’ Officer). The roles representing BAME, LGBT, and Trans and Non-binary students received no nominations, and therefore will reopen for by-elections, as will the Student Trustee positions.
This year’s election saw a 21% voter turnout, which is high compared to previous years. There were 3585 unique voters.
The Badger will be publishing full interviews with each of the elected full-time officers after the Easter break.
