Guitar based Indie act ‘Wet Leg’ have signed to Domino Records and released their new single ‘Chaise Longue.’
Armed with guitars, a taste for French disco and a shared love of music that ranges from The Ronettes to Bjork, they have a fresh new sound that’s hard to ignore.
There’s an impressive team behind the single, which is produced by Jon McMullen and mixed by Alan Moulder, who has previously worked with the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Foals.
The duo come with an infectious edge that is accompanied by a Brighton-esque quirkiness. The opening drumbeat is met by a simple bass line and a monotone voice that sings addictive tongue in cheek lyrics throughout. From quoting Mean girls to ‘big D’ jokes, there’s a post punk reaffirmation with this catchy track.
Although maybe a case of love it, or hate it; there’s no denying that the ‘marmite’ single is by far one of the most memorable songs from any new band that’s recently released music.
‘Chaise Longue’ is a compelling introduction to ‘Wet Leg’ who are made up of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers. With their deadpan attitude and irresistible edge, it’s no surprise that the single has already racked up over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone.
‘Wet Leg’ are definitely one to watch out for and bring a fresh and contagious new sound. They are also set to play a collection of dates across the UK over the next coming months and I predict you’ll be hearing a lot more from them.
