Sussex students currently taking part in a delegation to Palestine have met with students at Al Quds Open University in the West Bank region, which is twinned with the University of Sussex’s Student Union. The group are half way through a two week trip with the Brighton-Tubas Friendship and Solidarity Group, an organisation which aims to forge links with Palestinians living under Isreali occupation.
The delegation hoped to give a message of solidarity to the Palestinian students, who have to pass military checkpoints on their way to university every day and 10% of whom have been political prisoners. The group aims to highlight the situation of the Palestinian students and find out how to campaign effectively on their behalf.
