Red Veg
21 Gardner Street

Whether you’re a vegetarian or not Red Veg – aiming to provide excellent quality vegetarian and vegan food, whilst keeping it exciting and healthy, with no tofu in sight – should be a café on your list of ‘must eats’!

When you walk into the little intimate café your eyes are met with splurges of posters and Red Veg propaganda. (If the propaganda was effective as Stalin’s you’ll definitely be paying a second visit!) Your ears, meanwhile, are met with a fantastically eclectic mix of music which gives you a pleasant beat to nod your head to whilst munching on a yummy veggie meal.

After overwhelming your other senses, you are ready to eat! Choosing from the small menu, it seems to be a more difficult decision than it originally appears. I chose the Mexican burger with jalapeños and guacamole with a coffee which was all under £5!

My food was ready in no time and arrived on a little tray with a mini cafeteria with two cups worth of coffee. It feels personal whilst remaining minimal and trendy.

I highly recommend a stop into Red Veg if you are planning a trip to the Laines. In fact, I would say that it is worth a trip just to grab a bite! It’s yummy, cheap, healthy and entertaining, and is also served by friendly people who really want to give you a good meal!
