After a challenging and disappointing cup match against University of Birmingham 1st XV on 25th November, Sussex Women’s Rugby 1st XV played another difficult match against Royal Holloway University of London 1st XV on Wednesday 2nd December.

Although the host team proved to be tough competition, the Sussex ladies eventually emerged from the match victorious, dominating Royal Holloway 27-17. Tries were scored by winger Becca Harris (2), centre Abi Radford, no.8 Lottie Allen and scrum-half Hannah Craig. In addition, fullback Poppy Gardiner successfully converted a try.

Every member of the team contributed to their overall success – with each player making massive tackles and providing consistent support at the breakdowns. Luckily there were no injuries, although the same could not be said for the opposition.

The ladies are exceptionally proud of themselves and are looking forward to their final match next week against University of Portsmouth’s 1st XV. As they have previously played, and beat, Portsmouth, the 1st XV is confident that it will be an exciting, yet promising match. Head out to the Falmer Sports Complex Pitches on Wednesday 9th December for a 2pm KO to support the girls in their final match of 2015!
