After supporting the likes of HAIM, Ella Eyre and Jake Bugg, Kimberly Anne is going on her first headline tour around her sold out London show on the 8th October. After recording a stripped back cover of ‘Show Me Love’ in her South London bedroom and uploading it to YouTube in 2013, Dutch DJ, Sam Feldt, took her vocal and rebuilt it into a house track. The single entered the charts at No. 4 over the summer. She has now released a new single, ‘Bury It There’, a song with fabulous guitar riff and staccato percussion. It’s hard to ignore the Afro/Caribbean influences in Kimberly Anne’s music, and marrying it with indie acoustic sounds provides for a distinctive style. Her diverse music style was shaped by her dad playing Van Morrison and Jimi Hendrix, her mum blaring out Tracy Chapman and her sister blasting out Mary J Blige. After exploring music of Mali in West Africa, she experimented with different percussion when doing her bedroom recordings. After her sold out gig in London, she takes to the stage at Patterns, Brighton, on October 9th, where you will be able to experience her unique sound first hand. Kimberly Anne is certainly a name I expect to be hearing a lot more of in the years to come.
