Woman’s basketball was led to a resounding 78-34 victory, by their captain, as Sussex beat the University of East London on Wednesday.

Stellina Nikolopoulou, the captain, scored 25 points as the team showed their dominance from the start.

Nikolopoulou said: “we hustled for the ball well from the off, and played good defence.”

A team consisting of seven basketball freshers and five of the old guard were 39 points clear by the fourth period in a comfortable game where they were rarely threatened.

Nikolopoulou said that she expects the next game to be far tougher and will look for the team to replicate the intensity shown against UEL.

Sussex play Hertfordshire later this month on the 28th October.
