Hello, sports lovers of all kinds. To kick-start the essay-writing season and support the ongoing sportive campaign I am organizing a new fun and creative movement, which will regularly be included in the standard issue of The Badger.

It is called 5 Songs – 2 Wins and it basically combines my three main passions: writing, sports and music. I am sure you are all confused at this point but there is no need to be –  it is relatively easy.

A lot of people are familiar with the concept popular as ‘the zone’. It is a state of higher attention, where whatever you do happens relatively easy with good results. It can be applied to every activity a person does, regardless of whether it requires mental or physical activity. Being in the zone makes one feel relatively untouchable, boosts morale and improves self-confidence. The main question is how one gets into the zone?

For many athletes, the key is in a special pre-game music playlist. Whilst making a perfect one for everybody is virtually impossible, all we can do is see what your favorite athletes are listening to and whether that works for you. Always remember that the key is self-improvement, which leads to team improvement.

So, that is it. Every week we will feature a prominent (Sussex or else, but predominantly Sussex) player, who will quickly share his or her favourite pre-game tracks or even albums. It is a fun and exciting way to get to know people more in-depth.

And just for starters, I will share LeBron James’s, 2012-2013 NBA Most Valuable Player, playlist. Nicknamed the King, he gets quadruple the amount normal people get, but he gets away with it:

Big Krit, Cool 2 be Southern
Cris Cab, Paradise (On Earth)
Coldplay, Lost!
Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams), Get Lucky
Drake, Started From The Bottom
Eminem, Not Afraid
Fly Union, Long Run
Gorillaz, Clint Eastwood
Imagine Dragons, Radioactive
Jada Kiss (feat. Ayanna Irish), Can’t Stop Me
Jay Z, The Ruler’s Back
The Black Keys, Howlin For You
The Black Keys, Elevator
Robin Thicke (feat. Pharrell), Blurred Lines
Phil Collins, In The Air Tonight
Nas (feat. Puff Daddy), Hate Me Now
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (feat. Ray Dalton), Can’t Hold Us
Kendrick Lamar, Now Or Never
Kanye West, All Of The Lights
John Legend (feat. Rick Ross), Who Do We Think We Are

If you know a particular athlete and he wants to share his/her motivation with the rest of us – feel free to drop us a message.
