Richard Gow
Swim Sussex Team Captain

The University of Sussex Swimming Club competed at the BUCS short course individual championship for the first time over the weekend at ponds forge in Sheffield. The championship included top names in swimming such as Michael Jamieson who won silver at the London Olympic Games. The Sussex team performed well with personal bests from Richard Gow, Cecilia Valeri, Alex Warburton and Steph Din, with Steph and Cecilia excelling by winning their heats. Paolo Lesbordes and Aman Jamwal also put in great swims in their respective heats.
After a successful first trip to BUCS the University of Sussex Swim club is looking to send more swimmers to the long course championship in February. If you are interested in competing and have not yet been involved in the swim club we would love to hear from you.
We are currently swimming on Mondays for beginners and fitness at 20.15-21.15 and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 17.30-18.30. We will have opportunities to swim in our inter-club gala at the end of this term. For information about BUCS email Rich on rg248@sussex.ac.uk.
