Razorlight - JBPR

We lucky Sussex students are already spoilt by our surroundings – a stone’s throw from the sea and surrounded by the beautiful greenery of Stanmer Park – and we just got a little bit luckier, thanks to the Shakedown Festival that takes place on Saturday 17 September.

What could be a more perfect welcome home to Brighton after a long summer holiday than a one day festival in gorgeous surroundings, including an eclectic line up that features stellar festival veterans such as Razorlight, and trailblazing newcomers like Ed Sheeran? Not only do us eager kids get the chance to dance all day come rain or shine, but watch this space and Shakedown will also offer us the chance to get on down on into the early hours with various after parties dotted around the coolest joints in Brighton.

The ingenious use of Stanmer Park as a venue gives Brighton the kind of quality music festival that it deserves, and the calibre of the line-up demonstrates just how important Shakedown is going to be. For many of us, Razorlight’s ‘Golden Touch’ throws us back to the more carefree days of our youth, when we were first discovering the power of a song that with loud guitars and lyrics you could chant, but with the upcoming release of their fourth studio album, this is a band that has matured and are sure to know how to put on a good show.

If that’s not your bag, Example takes the stage and is sure to drive the crowd into a grimey ghetto frenzy, or for a more chilled vibe, Ed Sheeran’s set marks the week that his debut album ‘+’ is released. For those of us that just want to dance, sets from 2manyDJs, Zane Lowe and Kissy Sell Out aren’t much more than you could ask for.

If you don’t want to miss out on what is likely to be one of the most unforgettable events on the Brighton calendar (and that’s with a whole lot of competition), you can still get your hands on an Early Bird ticket for Shakedown at just £35.

Check out www.shakedown.co.uk for more details or tickets can be bought in person from Rounder Records, Resident, HMV Brighton and the Dome Box Office.
