As the new academic year once again roles round, at least one school at the University of Sussex is left without a head. At the time The Badger went to print, a Head of Informatics had yet to be appointed by the university.

Informatics is one of the new schools to have appeared after the schools and departments reshuffle at the end of last year. It encompasses a variety of computer sciences from Games and Multimedia Environments to Computing and Artificial Intelligence.

One 3rd year student seemed confused; ‘It’s a high ranking department, top 15 in the country in 2008. It would seem to be a good job…makes you wonder why it’s still empty.’

Informatics students, it seems, must hope the post is soon filled. Professor Bernard Weiss is currently acting Head.
