On Wednesday the 26th of November the Men’s 1st Badminton Team faced a tough away match against Portsmouth Men’s 1st.

Going into the match Sussex sat top of the league and were the team to beat. Leading by example Captain Craig Bird comfortably beat the opposition with an outstanding performance as the number one seed. Shaun Van Eeden displayed superb skills in defeating his opponent, although he dropped two sets. The double partnership of Revi Jassal and Mo Sizzles eased through their match with unrivalled style. Michael Sidwell and Keiron Lee, although losing one match, came back from a close defeat to win the last game.

This resulted in a 7-1 win and a superior team performance from Sussex who continue to once again assert Sussex authority in the South Conference. The man of the match award as voted by both teams was awarded to Skipper Craig Bird.

Unfortunately the Badminton 1sts found themselves on the end of a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Kingston University Men’s 1st on Wednesday (03-12). Hopefully this was only a blip in their bid for league success.
